Einkorn Dinner Yeast Rolls with Sausage and Cheese

Ingredients

  • 1 ¼ cup milk, slightly warmed
  • 1 ½ teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 700 grams jovial All-Purpose Einkorn Flour
  • ½ pound loose sausage, cooked and broken into small pieces
  • ¾ cup shredded cheese
  • 1 tablespoon freshly minced parsley, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the milk, yeast, egg, sugar, salt, and 4 tablespoons of the melted butter. Whisk well to combine and allow the mixture to sit for 5 minutes.
  1. Add the flour, sausage, and cheese into the milk mixture. Use a wooden spoon to stir until the mixture is well combined and no dry pockets remain. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured work surface and knead the dough with lightly floured hands until it has come together completely and is smooth.
  1. Drizzle a bit of olive oil into a clean bowl. Add the kneaded dough into the bowl and cover tightly with plastic wrap. Set aside in a warm location for 1 ½ hours.
  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  1. Transfer the proofed dough to a work surface. Divide the dough into even pieces. Working with one piece at a time, cup your palm over top of the dough and gently roll your hand in a circle to shape the dough into a circle. Apply a bit more pressure if needed to shape the dough as you continue to move your hand in a circular motion. The roll should look smooth and feel tight.
  1. Transfer the shaped roll to a parchment lined baking tray. Continue with the remaining dough.
  1. Cover the rolls with a linen cloth or plastic wrap and allow them to rise in a warm location for 1 hour.
  1. Bake the rolls for 20-22 minutes or until golden. Remove the rolls from the oven and brush with the remaining 2 tablespoons of melted butter. Sprinkle with fresh parsley, if desired, before serving.
