Introducing- Jovial's Organic Einkorn Sourdough Crackers
Three years ago, our founders, Carla and Rodolfo, began working on a new product that had been a dream of theirs since the company’s beginnings. jovial’s new Organic Einkorn Sourdough Crackers combine the flavor of ancient einkorn wheat with the age-old tradition of sourdough baking. It’s hard to believe it took so many test batches to get this product perfect, but now we are very excited that our crackers will be available from the jovial online store in a just a few days!

Studies have shown that the traditional way of leavening dough with natural sourdough starter (also referred to as wild yeast), creates a baked good that is much easier to digest. A long, natural leavening process, that does not include commercial baker’s yeast, breaks down the proteins and starches in flour and also lowers the glycemic index. We are firm believers that our ancestors fully understood the benefits of properly prepared food, but in manufacturing, a sourdough process is rarely feasible. In fact, it took some time to find a small, family-owned bakery who shared our vision. They have been baking bread for 50 years! It takes close to 24 hours to create one batch of crackers, but our artisan bakers understand that this hands-on baking process makes a product we can all be proud of.

Everyone needs a convenient snack that is wholesome and delicious, but that is not always easy to find for people with food allergies. The good news is that our crackers are made in a facility that is dedicated free from eggs, milk, soy, tree nuts, peanuts, shellfish and seafood. Our crackers contain no added sweeteners, natural flavors, or emulsifiers. (Remember though, that einkorn is a wheat and contains gluten, and is not suitable for people with celiac disease. We are actively working on new jovial gluten free products for the future!)
Three simply delicious varieties are almost here!
A good cracker should taste delicious right out of the box, and also pair well with both savory and sweet toppings. Jovial’s crackers come in three flavors- Sea Salt, Rosemary, and Tomato Basil. Our sea salt crackers are made with just a few simple ingredients, and are finished off with a light dusting of Ligurian sea salt. These crackers are perfect with just about any kind of topping, some of our favorites include cheese, jelly and nut butters. Our rosemary crackers taste fantastic with savory accompaniments, and you’ll find that the added touch of organic Italian rosemary is just perfect. The third flavor, tomato basil, is everything you crave in a pizza, minus the cheese. We mix the dough using organic strained tomatoes instead of water, and add just the right amount of basil and oregano for a touch of Mediterranean flavor. We love them right out of the box and in place of tortilla chips with guacamole, salsa or hummus.
