Einkorn Harvest 2021
Several weeks ago, my dad and I visited one of the einkorn fields in Castelvetro di Modena, near my house in Italy. Our first einkorn farming partner and family friend, Paolo and his team were hard at work harvesting the einkorn. It was a beautiful, sunny day and we are so grateful for yet another great harvest this year. It’s amazing to watch these farmers work in the hottest parts of the day, only taking a break to drink some water. An ice cold glass of sparkling water, in fact! Paolo laughed telling me that the harvester requests his sparkling water be put in the freezer before his breaks so it’s perfectly cold for him when he takes his break.
I really appreciate and admire them and their dedication to preserving such a precious wheat. And their spirits – it’s hard work, yet they still manage to crack jokes at each other. It was great to see Paolo, hang out with him and his sidekick Dada – she’s a sweetheart! – and spend the day in the open fields, watching them do what they do best, harvesting the crop that has meant so much to me and my family over the years. This place is so special to me and is so incredibly beautiful – these photos don’t even do it justice.
I think back to my first time seeing the einkorn fields and meeting Paolo and I’m in awe at how much we’ve grown since then, and all the things we have to look forward, too! With an appreciation of the past – both the thousands of years this impressive wheat has been around and the past ten years of thriving with this special grain – I’m excited about the future. We’ve got some awesome new einkorn products that we’re launching in the year ahead. I look forward to sharing that with you in a few months!
With love,
Giulia
Thank you for sharing, and looking forward to what arrives on our plates ? in the months ahead.
Greetings from Connecticut and New York.
Ciao! Ciao!
My discovery of Einkorn goes back a few years, and am so happy and grateful that you supply this wonderful grain coming from Italy with their lack of chemicals in the growing process. I bake just for the love of it, bread, scones, muffins, cakes, pies, cookies, creating my own new recipes.
Thank-you once again
All the best
Karen
I am humbled after seeing photos and reading blogs about the workers employed in the einkorn grain industry. These are the gurus of grain and grain milled food products; grains that sustain the health of Earth's people.
Thanks Jovial for the photos of the einkorn harvest; captivating beautiful!
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
Thanks
Thank you for sharing these wonderful pictures that capture the moments of men’s loving labor!!!

I’m new to your awesome brand, and product line! Thanks to Dr. William Davis MD where I first read in his book about Einkorn Wheat.
Now, I’m reading, and listening to the NPR podcast, & hearing Carla’s personal journey. My heart breaks learning of her passing. I’m moved by her life story! What an inspiration, and impact Carla will have on us all that stop long enough to listen to her story!
As a new customer, and person that loves to learn, and eat healthy as I can! A big thank you to everyone involved in making JovialFoods continue!! We need you all! From farmers to daughters!
